Loud Bros Floor Coatings undertook a significant commercial project for Wish Bone Canine Rescue in Bloomington/Normal IL aiming to revamp the existing concrete floors in their 2,500 sq. ft. kennel area. The goal was to install durable, high-performance flooring capable of withstanding heavy usage from both human and animal traffic, exposure to spills, frequent cleaning, and various chemicals.

The Solution

In collaboration with a flooring expert, Loud Bros Floor Coatings chose the following advanced flooring system:

1. Grind the concrete for best adherence and also patch and existing holes, pitting and cracking for a seamless floor

2. Moisture Vapor Barrier Epoxy: This base coat is specifically formulated for color chip flooring, boasting high pigment levels for superior coverage in a single layer. For this project, Loud Bros incorporated 1/4 inch Tidal Wave chips for added durability and aesthetics.

3. Wall Cove Butter: Ideal for institutional and industrial environments, Cove Butter provides a seamless, high-gloss, and easy-to-clean wall surface.

4. Kinetic HS Polyaspartic Top-Coat: A 92% solids polyaspartic system, Kinetic HS is versatile for various flooring applications, offering an excellent balance of strength, flexibility, and chemical resistance.

The Installation

Loud Bros Floor Coatings began by grinding the existing concrete floor. They then applied Moisture Vapor Barrier Epoxy to tackle any floor moisture, followed by a full broadcast system of 1/4 inch Tidal Wave flakes. The final touch was a clear coat of Kinetic HS Polyaspartic Top-Coat for maximum durability and ease of maintenance. The facility's walls were coated with Cove Butter, creating a robust and cleanable surface.
