If your concrete is stained, pitted or dusty, or you want the garage to feel like part of the house, yes. A coated floor resists stains and wear and cleans up with a sweep and a mop. We install most floors in one day, you can drive on it about 48 hours later, and every floor carries a lifetime adhesion warranty covering chipping, peeling and delamination.
03What is the downside of an epoxy garage floor?+
Epoxy bonds well, but it has two weak spots as the top layer of a garage floor. It isn't UV stable, so an epoxy top coat can yellow where sunlight hits it. It also cures more slowly, which keeps you out of the garage longer. Thin store-bought epoxy kits also tend to chip and peel: one of our customers came to us after years of chipping on a DIY kit. That's why our standard system finishes with a clear polyaspartic top coat that won't yellow and lets you drive on the floor about 48 hours after we finish. When a slab needs it, we still use epoxy where it's strongest: as a moisture vapor barrier base coat underneath.
04What coating is best for garage floors?+
For most garages we recommend a polyaspartic system: diamond grinding and crack repair, a polyaspartic base coat, a full broadcast of color flakes, and a clear polyaspartic top coat, often with silica added for grip. It goes down in one day, won't yellow, and carries our lifetime adhesion warranty. If moisture is coming up through the slab, we use a moisture vapor barrier epoxy base coat instead. We generally don't use polyurea, because it can yellow over time.

You can typically walk on your new floor about 24 hours after completion. For driving and placing heavy items back, we recommend waiting approximately 48 hours after the floor is finished.
